OVERVIEW

Introduction to the Throttle Valve

A throttle valve is a hydraulic flow-control valve that restricts the passage area to regulate fluid flow. By changing the size of an orifice with a needle, spool, or adjustable element, the valve creates a controlled pressure drop and changes the speed of a cylinder or hydraulic motor.

Throttle valves may be fixed, adjustable, pressure-compensated, or combined with a check valve for free reverse flow. They provide a practical way to control speed, sequence movement, damp pressure changes, and tune machine performance across mobile and industrial hydraulic systems.

Functions of the Throttle Valve

Hydraulic Parts for All Construction Machinery

 Regulate Hydraulic Flow Rate

Regulate Hydraulic Flow Rate

The throttle valve changes its effective opening to limit the amount of oil passing through the circuit. A smaller opening reduces flow, while a larger opening increases flow, allowing the operator or control system to set the required actuator operating rate.

Control Cylinder and Motor Speed

Control Cylinder and Motor Speed

Because hydraulic actuator speed depends on the supplied flow, a throttle valve can adjust extension, retraction, or motor rotation speed. Meter-in, meter-out, and bleed-off arrangements are selected according to load behavior, stability, efficiency, and safety requirements.

 Create a Controlled Pressure Drop

 Create a Controlled Pressure Drop

Restriction at the throttle valve converts part of the hydraulic energy into a predictable pressure difference across the orifice. This pressure drop supports flow regulation and circuit balancing, although proper sizing is important to limit unnecessary heat and energy loss.

Dampen Motion and Pressure Transients

Dampen Motion and Pressure Transients

A carefully adjusted throttle valve can slow sudden actuator movement and restrict rapid fluid transfer between circuit sections. This helps reduce shock, vibration, pressure spikes, and mechanical impact during starting, stopping, load changes, or operation of sensitive equipment.

Provide One-Way Speed Control When Combined with a Check Valve

Provide One-Way Speed Control When Combined with a Check Valve

A throttle-check valve restricts flow in one direction while allowing relatively free flow in the opposite direction. This arrangement gives controlled actuator speed during the working stroke and faster return movement without requiring a second flow-control component.

Uses

Throttle Valve Uses

Construction Machinery

Throttle valves regulate cylinder, attachment, fan, and auxiliary movement speeds in construction machinery.

Agricultural Machinery

A throttle valve adjusts lifting, lowering, folding, metering, and implement operating speeds in agricultural machinery.

Marine & Ship Equipment

Throttle valves control winch, hatch, steering, crane, and deck-equipment motion in marine hydraulic systems.

Mining Equipment

Rugged throttle valves regulate motion and damp hydraulic shock in roof supports, drilling systems, conveyors, and mining equipment.

How does a hydraulic throttle valve work?

A hydraulic throttle valve changes the area of an internal orifice. Restricting the opening reduces flow and creates a pressure drop, while opening it further allows more flow, thereby changing the operating speed of a cylinder or motor.

What is the difference between a throttle valve and a pressure-compensated flow-control valve?

A basic throttle valve has a fixed or adjustable restriction, so flow changes when pressure or load changes. A pressure-compensated flow-control valve automatically adjusts its metering condition to maintain a more consistent flow despite variations in pressure.

What is the difference between meter-in and meter-out control?

Meter-in control restricts flow entering an actuator and suits many resisting loads. Meter-out control restricts flow leaving the actuator and provides better control of overrunning loads by maintaining back pressure and preventing the load from running ahead.

Why does a throttle valve generate heat?

Throttling creates a pressure drop, and the lost hydraulic energy is converted into heat. Excessive restriction, high flow, long operating periods, or poor circuit design can overheat the oil, so valve sizing, cooling, and system efficiency must be considered.

Can you customize products, and is there a minimum order quantity?

Absolutely. We provide OEM/ODM services and can manufacture according to your samples or technical drawings. Yes, there is a minimum order quantity, but it is flexible. Spare parts often have an MOQ of 1 piece, while complete pumps or motors vary by model—please inquire for details.

How quickly can you deliver products, and what shipping methods are available?

For in-stock items, we can ship within 3 days. For custom or non-stock items, delivery usually takes 7–15 days. We’ll confirm exact timing based on current inventory. We offer flexible shipping via express carriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS) and sea freight (CIF/FOB). We can also deliver to your designated freight forwarder in China.

Are you a factory or a trading company, and how do you ensure product quality?

We are a hybrid—both a manufacturer and a trading company. We produce our own products and also source specific components to offer complete solutions. We follow strict quality control protocols. All parts undergo CNC machining and heat treatment, and each is 100% tested before delivery to guarantee precision and reliability.

What payment methods do you accept, and what is the warranty period?

We accept T/T, L/C, Western Union, Alibaba Trade Assurance, and VISA. For new customers, we usually require full prepayment or a 30% deposit with the balance due before shipment. All products come with a 1-year warranty, provided they are installed and operated under normal conditions.
